The Mandalorian, the first live action Star Wars series (debuting on Disney+ next month), is bringing lots of incredible talent to the Star Wars franchise. This includes writer and executive producer Jon Favreau, directors Rick Famuyiwa, Deborah Chow, and Taika Waititi, and composer Ludwig Göransson. Göransson recently spoke with GQ Australia about his career, as well as what it's like to follow in the footsteps of John Williams and writing new music for the Star Wars franchise.
Göransson said,
"It’s an extreme pressure. A lot of people have very strong opinions about this – you know, Star Wars is like the holy grail of film music.
I’m trying to create something that people won’t expect, but the harmonic language of John Williams’ music is something I want to pay homage to. There’s a lot of pressure but I’m having fun. It’s going to be eclectic."

Göransson won an Oscar earlier this year for his work on the score of the film Black Panther. His other film credits include the Ryan Coogler films Creed (2015) and Fruitvale Station (2013). He also produced the song "This Is America" with Childish Gambino, aka Donald Glover (who played Lando Calrissian in Solo: A Star Wars Story).

The Mandalorian is set following the events of Return of the Jedi and follows the adventures of a "lone gunfighter", as he navigates the galaxy in the post-Empire/early days of the New Republic. The series debuts on Disney+ on November 12th. If you haven't seen the new trailer, you can check it out below,
