When Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters in December it will not only bring to an end the sequel trilogy, but also the entire Skywalker saga. The man responsible for crafting that ending is director and co-writer JJ Abrams. Abrams, who kicked of the sequel trilogy with The Force Awakens in 2015, spoke about the challenges of creating the ending in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly.
Abrams begins the interview by saying, "endings are the thing that scare me the most."
He went on to explain why The Rise of Skywalker presents an even bigger challenge when it comes to the film's ending, saying,
"This is about bringing this thing to a close in a way that is emotional and meaningful and also satisfying in terms of actually answering [as many] questions as possible. So if years from now, someone’s watching these movies, all nine of them, they’re watching a story that is as cohesive as possible."

As for when we might get our next look at the film (and the ending of the saga), the rumor circulating currently is that we'll be seeing the next trailer for The Rise Of Skywalker on October 21st during Monday Night Football on ESPN.
Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20th, 2019. The film is directed by JJ Abrams, with a script by Abrams and Chris Terio, and stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Kelly Marie Tran, Mark Hamill, Billy Dee Williams, Keri Russell, Richard E. Grant, Naomi Ackie, Lupita Nyong'o, Domhnall Gleeson, Joonas Suotamo, and Carrie Fisher.
