One of the many things for Star Wars fans to look forward to in 2019 is the debut of The Mandalorian on Disney+, the first live action Star Wars series.  The series is set shortly following the events of Return of the Jedi, and follows a Mandalorian lone gun-fighter in the outer rim. The timing and location, gives the series some great opportunities to incorporate some familiar faces from the original trilogy.  MakingStarWars.net is reporting on one such appearance that we can expect on the series when it launches next year.  This doesn't give away major plot details, but it is very exciting and intriguing.  However, if you are trying to avoid all The Mandalorian spoilers stop reading now. This is your spoiler alert!

"IG-88 has recently been seen on set, filming his close ups, and being the star that he is on the set of The Mandalorian. The old time bounty hunter isn’t just standing around either, we’ve had credible reports about blasters being fired and he’s riding speeder bikes and attacking enemies."

Before anybody asks, MSW does reiterate that this is the IG-88 from The Empire Strikes Back not just another assassin droid (as seen on The Clone Wars animated series).  They also report that Bossk may have been spotted on set, though it could also have been a different Trandoshan.

Having a series set in the Underworld of the Star Wars galaxy gives the creators a chance to revisit some of the bounty hunters and other nefarious beings who didn't get much screen time in the original trilogy.  As well as the chance to see some of these characters in action, which may not have been possible at the time of their design.

As always, this is just a rumor until confirmed or denied by Lucasfilm or Disney

The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones) in the titular role, alongside Gina Carano (Deadpool), Nick Nolte (Affliction), Carl Weathers (Predator), Werner Herzog (Grizzly Man), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), Emily Swallow (Supernatural), and Omid Abtahi (American Gods). The series' first season is written by executive producer Jon Favreau and will debut on Disney+ next year!
