Today has been a momentous day for the cast and crew of Star Wars: The Last Jedi after learning that their film has received four Oscar nominations. The Last Jedi was nominated in the categories of Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, and Best Visual Effects, in addition to Best Original Score. Legendary composer John Williams now has a grand total of 51 Academy Award nominations thanks to Episode VIII.
To celebrate the news, writer/director Rian Johnson tweeted out a never before seen behind the scenes video showing Williams conducting the main Star Wars theme during a score session for The Last Jedi. The footage is truly moving, and you can check it out below:
Nothing I can type will set this up well enough, so I’ll just say: John Williams. https://t.co/KpPnDMcOoL— Rian Johnson (@rianjohnson) January 23, 2018
Hearing John Williams' Star Wars scores is always amazing, but actually watching the maestro work is truly magical. Congrats, once again, to John Williams on this much deserved honor!
