When Solo: A Star Wars Story hits theaters in May, we'll be seeing the Millennium Falcon as we've never seen in before.  Not only will the Falcon reportedly look different than ever before but, according to actor Donald Glover (who plays a young Lando Calrissian in the film), director Ron Howard has come up with some inventive new ways of shooting scenes aboard the iconic ship.  Glover spoke about working with Howard on Solo during a recent Television Critics Association panel for his FX series Atlanta (which he writes, produces, directs, and stars in and recently began production on its second season).

Glover described shooting a scene with Howard, saying,

"I remember going on set one of the first times, he was like, ‘Yeah, I want to follow you onto the Millennium Falcon and do this thing.’ I was like, ‘I don’t think I’ve ever seen the outside go into the inside.’ He’s like, ‘Yeah, no one’s ever done that shot.’ As a fan I was like yeah, I was really excited. I know there’s been a lot of talk in the press about this movie but for me anyway, it was a dream and also it looks really cool to me."

He also added, "The Millennium Falcon is beautiful. It’s a beautiful, beautiful piece of architecture. Flying that was really fun."

Glover also touched briefly on the infamous directors switch, when Howard was brought in to replace Phil Lord and Chris Miller midway through the film's shoot.  Glover said,

"I think we’ve all never been faced with anything like that and I think he did a good job of coming and tell us he didn’t want to change what we were doing at all. He wanted us to remain confident in our vision. He just wanted to sculpt it in a way."

Solo: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on May 25th, 2018 and stars Alden Ehrenreich (Hail Caesar!) as Han Solo, Donald Glover (Atlanta) as Lando Calrissian, Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Woody Harrelson (True Detective), Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), Thandie Newton (Westworld), and Paul Bettany (The Avengers).  The film is directed by Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind), with a script by Lawrence Kasdan (The Empire Strikes Back) and his son Jon Kasdan (The First Time).
