Despite the characters only spending one scene together across two movies, some fans are hoping to see the characters of Poe Dameron and Rey enter into a romantic relationship in Star Wars Episode IX. This all stems from their first meeting together aboard the Millennium Falcon in the final moments of The Last Jedi when their paths finally crossed.
Rey actress Daisy Ridley was asked about this during an interview during a promotional event in China and she downplayed the possibility of Rey and Poe becoming romantic in future installments. Ridley said,
"It's wonderful to have relationships that are not romantic. I don't think in films you always need a romantic relationship. I think friend relationships can be romantic in their gestures and their intimacy. Hopefully, if Rey and Poe get to have some scenes together, there will be intimacy but, for me, it doesn't have to be romantic love."
