'The Last Jedi' Expected to Cross $500 Million Worldwide at the Box Office Today

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is off to a great start at the box office.  The film made $220 million in the US during its opening weekend and had made $494 million worldwide through Monday, meaning the will pass (or may have already passed) the $500 million mark sometime today.  This gives it the fifth highest opening weekend of all time (behind Fate of the Furious, The Force Awakens, Jurassic World, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2).

With The Last Jedi already at the half billion mark, the only question is how high will it go?  The Force Awakens broke all sorts of box office records on its way to #3 overall all time in the worldwide box office with $2.066 billion, while last year's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story finished with $1.056 billion at the worldwide box office.  It seems safe to assume The Last Jedi will finish somewhere between the two.
