Ron Howard Announces the End of Production and the Title of the Han Solo Movie

Director Ron Howard took to twitter today to announce that filming had wrapped on the upcoming Han Solo stand alone film, and that the film is officially titled Solo: A Star Wars Story.  Howard made the announcement in a short video released on his Twitter account where he thanks the cast and crew for their hard work and is handed (by a familiar Wookiee) a sign with the film's official title on it.  Check out the video below,

The production of Solo has been a unique one.  Howard was brought in as director after the film had already been in production for several months with Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The Lego Movie) at the helm.  The change was made after Lord and Miller left the project, reportedly due to disputes with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan.

The title, Solo: A Star Wars Story, is a predictable one.  Personally, I was hoping for a more imaginative and unique title but ultimately this title works to let audience know exactly what they can expect when they enter the theater in May.

Solo: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on May 25th, 2018 and stars Alden Ehrenreich (Hail Caesar!) as Han Solo, Donald Glover (Atlanta) as Lando Calrissian, Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) as Kura, Woody Harrelson (True Detective) as Beckett, Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), Thandie Newton (Westworld), and Paul Bettany (The Avengers).  The film is directed by Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind), with a script by Lawrence Kasdan (The Empire Strikes Back) and his son Jon Kasdan (The First Time).
