The last time we saw Kylo Ren, in 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens, he had sustained a brutal scar on his face after being bested by Rey in a Lightsaber duel on Starkiller Base. Now, thanks to the brand new teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi released at Star Wars Celebration Orlando, we finally get a new look at Kylo.
Kylo Ren makes a brief appearance in the teaser, with most of his face hidden behind his outstretched arm and crimson bladed crossguard Lightsaber. Not long after the trailer debuted last week, observant fans began to notice there was something different about Kylo, specifically concerning his scar. In The Force Awakens, the scar runs across his right cheek and up the bridge of his nose. In the The Last Jedi the scar appears to be in a different position directly above Kylo's right eye, which very much resembles the scar Anakin Skywalker has in Revenge Of The Sith.

After much speculation among fans, director Rian Johnson took to Twitter to set the record straight. He explains that while, yes, the scar is slightly different, the change was a conscious decision on his part:
@origonalname113 @mutlubulutlar @StarWarsNewsNet @TheLastKylo It was my decision to slightly adjust it, and that was my justification. It honestly looked goofy running straight up the bridge of his nose— Rian Johnson (@rianjohnson) April 19, 2017
