Del Rey Teases New 'Star Wars' Announcement Coming Tomorrow, "Operation Blue Milk"

Del Rey Books, the publishers of the Star Wars adult fiction novels, are teasing a new announcement coming tomorrow, with the code name "Operation Blue Milk".  Del Rey took to their social media to tease the project posting a picture of a manila folder "Operation Blue Milk" promising more details tomorrow and encouraging those seeking out hints to click on the hashtag.

The hashtag has been used by many authors to confirm their involvement in the secret project.  This includes previous Star Wars authors John Jackson Miller (A New Dawn), Paul S. Kemp (Lords of the Sith), E.K. Johnston (Ahsoka), Claudia Gray (Lost Stars), Chuck Wendig (Aftermath), Alexander Freed (Battlefront: Twilight Company), Jason Fry (Servants of the Empire), Delilah S. Dawson (The Perfect Weapon), Christie Golden (Dark Disciple),  Cavan Scott (Adventures in Wild Space), and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story screen writer Gary Whitta.

Also using the hashtag to confirm their involvement are newcomers to the Star Wars galaxy, Nnedi Okorafor (Who Fears Death), Madeline Roux (Alison Hewitt is Trapped), Adam Christopher (Made to Kill), Sabaa Tahir (An Ember in the Ashes), Zoraida Cordova (Labyrinth Lost), Meg Cabot (The Mediator), and Griffin McElroy (My Brother, My Brother and Me).

The number of authors involved has led to reasonable speculation that "Operation Blue Milk" is the codename for an anthology of short stories.  Some have suggested that the stories may all be centered on the adventures of a young Luke Skywalker to celebrate the 40th anniversary.  The idea of it being some sort of 40th anniversary celebration is intriguing, though, as much as I love Luke Skywalker, I would prefer a 40th anniversary collection of short stories to cover all aspects of Star Wars that have emerged in the lat 40 years.  Regardless, we'll find out what this is all about tomorrow.
