The first official preview synopsis for the highly anticipated novel Star Wars: Thrawn by Timothy Zahn, hitting shelves on April 11, has been released. The novel was announced back at Star Wars Celebration Europe last summer in London, following the reveal that Thrawn would be appearing in the animated series Star Wars Rebels. The novel is set prior to the event of Star Wars Rebels and will show Thrawn rising through the ranks of the Empire. Check out the synopsis below,

Thrawn is the first major character who was brought in to the new canon from the former Expanded Universe, currently known as "Legends". Author Timothy Zahn, who is returning to write the new novel, created the characters back in the early 1990s as the primary antagonists for his trilogy of novel that brought Star Wars back to bookshelves. The character is currently facing off with the rebels of Phoenix Squadron on Star Wars Rebels. The character is voiced on the series by Lars Mikkelsen (Sherlock, House of Cards).
