Han Solo & Hayden Christensen Will Not Appear In 'Rogue One'

Along with all the amazing news and reveals from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story we've been getting recently, a large amount of speculation and rumors have also surfaced. While most of this information circulates throughout the web without any solid confirmations or denials(until we actually see the film), occasionally the creators will take it upon themselves to set the record straight.

Star Wars Celebration Europe recently took place in London and a host of the cast and crew members from Rogue One were on hand to discuss the film in detail. Extra was there and spoke with director Gareth Edwards and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. The interviewer levied some big questions to the trio regarding some rumors that have been floating around, and they didn't beat around the bush with their answers.

First off, speculation and rumors have circulated that both Hayden Christensen, as Darth Vader, and Han Solo could make an appearance in the film. The casting of Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, and the recent rumor that Ehrenreich was signed for three films, added to the discussion that the beloved smuggler could have a cameo in Rogue One. Kennedy and Edwards swiftly shot down both of those rumors in the interview. Specifically regarding Solo, Gareth Edwards states:

"I'm not sure if I'm allowed to do this, but I think I should.... Han Solo's not in the movie."

In addition, a rumor recently surfaced stating that Rogue One will end ten minutes prior Episode IV: A New Hope. While Kennedy doesn't outright deny the rumor, she did seem to find it quite amusing:

“I love that it has been reduced to that precise amount. It definitely leads into ‘New Hope’ that is very intentional, but it is a completely new and separate set of characters and it is a story that sits outside of anything anyone would necessarily know in ‘New Hope.’”

You can watch both of those interviews here:

Furthermore, Edwards commented on the intense speculation surrounding the Rogue One reshoots and as well the misinformation that runs rampant online. You can see more from the interviews over at Extra!

It's always fun to speculate about rumors, and the Han Solo and Hayden Christensen rumors were ones that I considered could be true. But I certainly appreciate Kennedy and Edwards being willing to put these to bed.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on December 16th!
