'Star Wars: Episode VIII' Wraps Production In Ireland

Over the past few weeks and months production on Star Wars: Episode VIII has temporarily moved to Ireland, but now it appears that filming there has been completed. Star Wars: The Force Awakens began the trend by using Skellig Michael Island as the setting for the planet Ahch-To, where Rey finds Luke Skywalker at the end of the film. We can further assume that the extensive filming that has taken place in locations such as Ceann Sibรฉal and Malin Head recently will include more scenes set on Ahch-To.

According to RTE.ie, filming in Ireland has ended and a wrap party for the cast and crew was held Wednesday to celebrate. Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley and over 300 others who participated in the shoot converged on the popular Foxy John's pub in Dingle. RTE reports:

"Those attending the private function witnessed Ridley, who plays the role of Rey in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, go behind the counter to pull a few pints for her colleagues. Mark Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker, also dropped in to celebrate the end of the three-week shoot in Ireland. The 64-year-old was driven to the pub on Main Street in a blacked-windowed SUV."

In addition, director Rian Johnson shared this tweet:

Also, actor Joonas Suotamo, who portrays Chewbacca along with Peter Mayhew, posted this thank you video to the people of Dingle on his Facebook page:

Daisy Ridley also confirmed she was home from shooting in Ireland with an Instagram post:

And last, but certainly not least, Mark Hamill shared this cheeky tweet about what he will miss about Ireland:
