The novel Star Wars: Bloodline by Claudia Gray hit bookstores last week and his been met with near universal praise.  The novel is set approximately six years before the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and focuses on Princes Leia's experience as a New Republic Senator.  The novel made headlines prior to its release, when it was revealed that Star Wars Episode VIII director Rian Johnson had contributed to the novel.  Today, Lucasfilm creative executive (and member of the Lucasfilm Story Group) Pablo Hidalgo shared some behind the scenes details about what went into the creation of the book, including where Johnson's input is felt in the story.  Check out the tweets below,

It's really interesting to see the process for how a Star Wars novel is created, how the story group puts together the ideas and then it's up to the author to actually turn it into a story.  It's also interesting to see how these ideas evolve, including what medium is best suited for the story.  As for the details that came from Rian Johnson, it makes you wonder how they might make their way into Episode VIII.  At the very lest, it seems that Episode VIII may delve more into the politics of the galaxy than The Force Awakens did.  This is something I felt was lacking in Episode VII and hope to see addressed at some point in the sequel trilogy.

Star Wars: Bloodline is available now!
