The hotly anticipated book The Making of Star Wars: The Force Awakens has reportedly been cancelled according to Jedi-Biblothek, who noticed that the book's listing in TBM BookManager had recently been updated to say "publication cancelled".  The hardcover book was slated for an October 25th, 2016 release date and was to be written by JW Rinzler and Mark Cotta Vaz.  No reason has been given for the book's cancellation.

The description for the cancelled book was,

The Making of Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the ultimate eyewitness account of the film’s complete production history—the fantastic work of the conceptual art team, the commitment to creating a new story in a saga that is loved around the world, J. J. Abrams’s helming of the massive production, and the post-production finesse of Industrial Light & Magic and Skywalker Sound—with exclusive reflections from George Lucas, Kathleen Kennedy, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher, as well as Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, and many others.

A must-have for Star Wars fans, this authorized, all-access book—perhaps the most comprehensive documentation of an in-progress production ever written—will be an indispensable work for all movie fans and devotees of popular culture.

This is very disappointing news.  I was really looking forward to this book and what insights it might have had about the making of the film, specifically as it relates to the development of the story.  I was hoping it would answer some of the questions I had about the film that The Art of The Force Awakens book and the Secrets of The Force Awakens: A Cinematic Journey documentary on the home media release of the film didn't have time to address.
