We all remember summer 2014 when fans used drones to get some pictures from the set of Star Wars: The Force Awakens while they were filming the Resistance Base scenes at Greenham Common in the U.K. Well, it look like the Episode VIII production is going to great lengths to stop that from happening again when location film takes place in Dubrovnik, Croatia later this year. According to a new report from Mos Croatia, the production will have a team of Drones of its own to take out any unauthorized drones attempting to get pictures from the set. In addition, a team of 600 security guards have been hired to keep the set secure.
The filming in Dubrovnik is slated to take place from March 9th to 16th, however Mos Croatia also reports that several of the locations in Dubrovnik have been recreated at Pinewood Studios in London, where the production is based. They report that filming will take place on city streets in Dubrovnik and that homeowners on those streets are being asked to cover their windows so that they can be replaced later with special effects. Speculation currently is that some sort of chase sequence will be filmed there, but that is unconfirmed.
