ESPN has announced that they will air a special ha;f hour feature on December 15th at 7pm ET about connecting the lightsaber duels in the Star Wars films to the world sports. The special will be hosted by Mark Hamill and features interviews with Star Wars celebrities including Darth Sidious actor Ian McDiarmid, prequel lightsaber stunt choreographer Nick Gillard, The Force Awakens director JJ Abrams, and Star Wars historian JW Rinzler.
The focus of the special will be the connections between lightsaber duels and the martial art of Kendo. “I really feel that kendo has informed so much of what we have done in the films it is about time that it gets some long-overdue recognition,” Hamill told ESPN.
