Somewhat lost among the flurry of trailers and tickets this week, was the fact that we received our first official confirmation of the MPAA rating given to Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This was revealed on physical movie tickets that fans bought in person at various theaters. Here is a photo of the tickets from our friend Zany in Mississippi.

This will be the second Star Wars film to receive a PG-13 rating after Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. All other films have been PG.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens will premiere worldwide on December 18th, after various early premieres in the preceding days.

Are you excited that the movie will have grittier elements? Let us know in the comments!
