Even though we're still nearly six months away from seeing The Force Awakens, the teams at Lucasfilm are already hard at work on the first Anthology film, Star Wars: Rogue One. Our friends at Making Star Wars are reporting that filming for the next film in the saga has begun at Pinewood Studios in London! Here's what they had to say(a few minor SPOILERS may be included):
"Felicity Jones has filmed her first scene already. It shouldn’t be a huge reveal that loads of trees are being brought into the studio again. It shouldn’t really be a surprise that there’s a landing in the jungle being filmed either... Not all of the sequences of the landing are going to be filmed at Pinewood... There’s some stuff that looks like the Death Star as well, but it may just be more interiors of the Star Destroyers."
They add that the second unit film crew is shooting scenes with some repurposed landing craft sets from The Force Awakens. Making Star Wars also claims that Disney is planning to create a tourist attraction at Pinewood with a studio tour that will "rival" Warner Brother's Harry Potter studio tour. We'll have to wait and see what that might entail.
Even though Making Star Wars has proven to be a trusted source of news, we still have to file this one as a rumor until it's officially confirmed by Lucasfilm or Disney.
Star Wars: Rogue One hits theaters December 16th, 2016!
