While we expect to see many news things in The Force Awakens, we already know that the film will feature plenty of nostalgia inducing imagery. From the Millennium Falcon, X-wings and TIE Fighters, to Han, Chewie and more, Episode VII certainly is looking like a worthy sequel to the Original films. A recent bit of news has confirmed that J.J Abrams and company will be taking it one step further by bringing back an iconic piece of Star Wars history.
Our friends at Furious Fanboys alerted us to an interview i09 did with Adam Savage of The Mythbusters. In it, Savage says that he is friends with Phil Tippett, who was heavily involved in the creation of the special effects seen in the Original Trilogy. He explains further that J.J. Abrams brought Tippett back to work on a specific special effects shot for The Force Awakens, which Savage watched him shoot. That shot, he confirms, is the Dejarik Holochess onboard the Millennium Falcon.

Last year J.J. Abrams tweeted a photo of the Dejarik table in response to fan speculation at the time, thus confirming that the Millennium Falcon would be in the film. Now, after two trailers showing the Falcon in action, we finally have confirmation that the game of Dejarik itself will be making an appearance, and realized with the same technology it was created with back in 1977, no less. Ironically, the Holochess aliens were among the first effects Tippett helped bring to life for A New Hope. The circle is now complete.
