Over the course of the production of The Force Awakens we're heard many different reports about actors who may or may not have roles in the film, both big and small. One of the most famous names discussed has been Daniel Craig. It was last year when we first first heard that the James Bond actor might have a cameo in Episode VII, and it was later seemingly confirmed by Simon Pegg that Craig was indeed playing a Stormtrooper in the film. Now Craig has officially gone on record to inform us that he is, in fact, not in Star Wars. Entertainment Weekly recently spoke with him and asked about his rumored role, which he responded:
“Why would I ever bother doing something like that? F—ing hell! Pffft. Play an extra in another movie?... Talk to Simon Pegg. He obviously knows way more than I do. He’s just jealous because he’s not in Star Wars. He’s got some issue with J.J. I don’t know what the f— it is. You need to talk to Simon about it.”
His last comments are particularly confusing considering that the behind the scenes video that was released at San Diego Comic Con last week confirmed that Simon Pegg actually is in The Force Awakens. Obviously because this is just text it's hard to determine exactly what Craig means since we can't actually hear him saying it. I'm inclined to believe that he is simply joking here, or at the very least being coy and having fun with it. I'd like to say "just wait and see" but if Daniel Craig really is in the The Force Awakens wearing a First Order Stormtrooper outfit, it's likely we'll never know. Hopefully this mystery surrounding this will be solved sooner or later.
