Rumor: Ewan McGregor To Return In Obi-Wan Trilogy

Ever since we started hearing about Anthology way back when, one name has always popped up over and over again in rumors and speculation about what or who these stand alone films could focus on. And that name is Ewan McGregor. Since the Prequel Trilogy ended fans have clamored for the opportunity to see Ewan reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars saga. He's even said publicly that he would be open to returning. Now the rumor mill is heating up again thanks to the folks at Schmoes Know. They're claiming that they've heard from insiders that Disney is currently in negotiations with Ewan McGregor for an unknown project. They add that Disney is interested in producing a trilogy films outside the Anthology series focused on Obi-Wan that will take place after Revenge Of The Sith.

What's interesting about this rumor is that it's not the first time we've heard it. A very similar report from Cinelinx circulated last year. Is this just repetitive reporting, or is the fact that the same information is now being corroborated by two different sources add legitimacy to this rumor?

A film focused on Obi-Wan during his exile on Tatooine between Episode III & IV sounds very plausible. But a trilogy films sounds like overkill. Obi-Wan is my personal favorite character, and Ewan McGregor could certainly carry a film as Obi-Wan, but three films seems unrealistic. Nevertheless, I will admit that with all of the rumors we've heard thus far,  there must be at least some truth to this. Where there's smoke, there's a fire, as the old saying goes.
