Ever since the original Star Wars film back in 1977, Lucasfilm has been pushing the boundaries on story telling technologies.  Now Lucasfilm, along with Industrial Light & Magic and Skywalker Sound, are launching a new division that will be exploring the potential of experience based story telling through virtual reality and other incredible new interactive technologies.

For a taste of what they are working on, check out the launch video below,

It is truly amazing to see what the incredibly talented people are working.  I'm very much looking forward to seeing what they come up with and how Lucasfilm continues to affect the way films are told.  Like Kathleen Kennedy said in the video, George Lucas really kicked this off with Star Wars in '77 and continued it on through the rest of the original trilogy, the prequels, and everything in between.  It's great to see that the companies he founded are still pushing that vision forward, even after his retirement.
