Disney CEO Bob Iger has been out and about lately after recently announcing another successful quarter for The Walt Disney Company. Naturally, the topic of Star Wars has come up in a few of the interviews he's been doing, specifically the planned expansion of Star Wars at the Disney Parks. While Iger didn't reveal any specifics, he did reiterate to Wall Street analysts that, "The plans are ambitious, so it’s going to take some time for them to be built and opened."
As for when we can expect to get announcements of the specifics of the plan, Iger told Bloomberg, "Fairly soon, I’m sure we’ll be ready to go public with some specifics.
But it’s safe to say that you’ll see a lot more ‘Star Wars’ at Disney
and at Disney parks in the near future."
Does around 70 days qualify as fairly soon? Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, which takes place April 16-19, would be a fantastic place to make such an announcement. If not Celebration, I could see Disney saving this for their own fan convention, D23, which takes place in August. Or maybe, it will be on a random Tuesday in June. Regardless, you can bet Disney is just as excited as we are to have this information go public.
