Lucasfilm made a few more Star Wars Celebration Anaheim announcements today. In addition to the news that Revenge of the Sith would be screened in 3D and that Star Wars: Smuggler's Bounty, the sequel to the audio play Smuggler's Gambit, would be recorded live at the convention, they announced the costume contest rules and set the pre-order date for the Hoth Pin Set in the Pin Trading program.
The costume contest will be on Friday April 17th and costumes must be registered by February 28th. Costume must be part of one of the five categories (listed below). The winner from each category will be considered for the best in show prize. Prizes and judges will be revealed closer to the convention. The categories (and examples) are:
- Jedi & Rebels: Luke Skywalker, Mace Windo, Ahsoka Tano, Hera Syndulla, Rebel Pilot
- Empire & Sith: Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine, Darth Maul, The Inquisitor, TIE Fighter Pilot
- Princesses: Leia Organa, Padme Amidala, Duchess Satine Kryze
- Armored Troopers: Stormtroopers, Mandalorian Mercs, Clone Troopers
- Droids: R2-D2, C-3PO, GNK Droid, Chopper, Battle Droids
- Aliens, Creatures & Outer Rim: Wampa, Ewok, Tuskan Raider, Gungan
As for the Pin Trading program, the Hoth Pin set will be available for pre-order starting January 9th (this Friday). The Hoth set includes a Rebel Hoth Trooper and a Imperial Snowtrooper. They can be pre-order through the Celebration website and are only available to Celebration ticket holders.
Star Wars Celebration Anaheim is already shaping up to be fantastic fan experience, and we don't even know what presence the new films will have!
Star Wars Celebration Anaheim will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California from April 16th-19th, 2015. 99 Days to go....
