"There has been an awakening, have you felt it? The Dark side... and the light."

That line of dialogue, along with 88 seconds of new footage from Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, took the Internet by storm two weeks ago. After much speculation, the voice over was revealed to be the work of Andy Serkis who subsequently shared his reaction to the trailer. Now Serkis is back, now talking to NY Daily News about his now infamous role in the teaser. Firstly, he discussed being confronted by a fan at the premiere of The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies asking about The Force Awakens:

“The man said, ‘Andy, Andy, is it you, is it your voice? I have 20 pounds at Coles, which is a betting shop in London on it, just tell me it’s you,’” Serkis recalled to The News of the Dec. 1 encounter. “’Everybody thinks it’s (Benedict) Cumberbatch, but I knew it was pure Andy Serkis.’... I mean it was hilarious.”

He also mentioned a conversation he had with J.J. Abrams:

“(Director J.J. Abrams) said to me, ‘Andy, just so you know you’re all over the trailer, your voice is all over the trailer,” says Serkis, “And I went, ‘Oh, that’s great, that’s fantastic,’ but I had no idea it was going to cause such consternation and intrigue.”

He later added that the voice "emotionally rooted" in his character. If you're curious about what that character may be, you can click here to check some exclusive details we recently revealed.
