Liam Neeson Says He Has Not Been asked to Appear in Episode VII

Well it seems we can strike at least one name of the list of dead Jedi who may show up as Force ghosts in the sequel trilogy to offer advice to the next generation.  Liam Neeson spoke with HeyUGuys while promoting his new film A Walk Among the Tombstones and was naturally asked about the potential to return to Star Wars in the sequel trilogy.  Neeson confirmed that he had not been contacted by the production, though he did state he would "love" to return to the franchise and that he "certainly didn't want anyone else playing Qui-Gon Jinn."

Check out the interview below,

While I can't say I'm surprised by this, there is a part of me that is a bit disappointed.  Qui-Gon's importance to the saga was (sadly) not fully fleshed out in the prequels and having seen the Yoda arc from Season Six of Star Wars: The Clone Wars we understand just how influential Qui-Gon was for Yoda.  That being said, he doesn't have the connection to Luke Skywalker that characters like Yoda or Obi-Wan Kenobi, so it does make sense that he would not be at the top of the list for characters that would appear as a Force ghost in the sequel trilogy (I'm still holding out hope we'll get a cameo from Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, though Yoda is probably the safest bet).
