The official Star Wars website recently updated their design to reveal a sleek and futuristic new StarWars.com.
"It's time for a fully armed and operational online Star Wars experience," the StarWars.com team relayed via email to fans who had been previously registered on the site. "So we're thrilled to let you know that Lucasfilm is launching an all-new StarWars.com -- with movie, TV, and video game news, innovative features, and more in-depth original content than ever before."
The Star Wars team also revealed that they are doing away with any existing StarWars.com accounts, and are replacing them with Disney IDs. Registering for a Disney ID requires a user's birthdate, email address, country and zip code in addition to a personalized display name. The email reassures that the "new Disney ID is more powerful than you could possibly imagine."
The redesign also added new features, such as the community page. Here, the site lists links to fan organizations, fansites and blogs, and fan podcasts. The page also provides links to Star Wars news around the web on sites like Yahoo! News, MTV, and NPR.
Another new feature under the "databank" page, lists all ships, characters, species, and droids in alphabetical order: an entire resource of Star Wars information at a fan's fingertips. The site may prove Jocasta Nu correct: If an item does not appear in the records, it does not exist
The new StarWars.com is waiting to be explored by fans. Although Jedi aren't supposed to crave these things, in the words of a famous green Jedi Master, the new site holds "adventure, excitement!"
