With Star Wars Episode VII now officially shooting, the guerrilla set reports are beginning to surface. The latest comes from Bleeding Cool, who have spotted a Facebook update from Warhammer writer Gordon Rennie in which he claims to have spoken with some members of the second unit on Episode VII. According to Rennie, the second unit is currently shooting in Iceland and the scenes being shot will feature Chewbacca and "old skool" Stormtroopers.
Iceland has been rumored to be a shooting location for Episode VII for a while now. However, no word on what part of Iceland the crew is located in, so there's no point in really speculating where in the galaxy it's filling in for. As Jason Ward from MakingStarWars.net points out, Iceland has a very diverse landscape that ranges from lush greens to icy plains. It is interesting to note that it is second unit work being done there now, and that JJ Abrams is likely not there (he, himself, said he's in London). And if Chewbacca's involved, it's likely a double for Peter Mayhew, who spent the last weekend in Orlando, Florida for Star Wars Weekends. However, if Chewie is involved in the scene then I would expect both Abrams and Mayhew will be making the trip out to Iceland fairly soon (but that's just speculation on my part).
As always this is just a rumor until confirmed or denied by Lucasfilm or Disney.
