Bleeding Cool is reporting that Marvel Comics will be announcing their plans for new Star Wars comic books in July of this year, specifically one week before San Diego Comic Con.  The announcement was made during the Diamond Retailer Summit in Las Vegas.  Bleeding Cool is also hearing that the announcement will be for two ongoing series.

It was announced earlier this year that the comics license for Star Wars would be returning to Marvel in 2015, once Lucasfilm's current deal with Dark Horse comics had expired.  Marvel had previously published Star Wars comics from 1977 to 1986.  The current licence was picked up by Dark Horse in 1991, and expires at the end of 2014.

Personally I'm hoping for a series that picks up after Return of the Jedi and maybe hints a little at Episode VII.  What do you hope to see Marvel do?  Fire away in the comments below, tweet us @TheSWU, or join the discussion in Club SWU on Facebook!
