If there was any fear that today's announcement regarding the future of the Expanded Universe mean there was going to be less Star Wars novels, Del Rey and Disney Publishing have done their best to quickly dash them!  StarWars.com announced today the titles to the next three Star Wars novels (after John Jackson Miller's Star Wars Rebels tie-in).  They are:

STAR WARS: TARKIN
by: James Luceno
11/4/14
In our second upcoming novel created in collaboration with the Lucasfilm Story Group, bestselling Star Wars veteran James Luceno gives Tarkin the Darth Plagueis treatment, bringing a legendary character from A New Hope to full, fascinating life. Coming November 4, 2014. Jacket art by David Smit.

STAR WARS: HEIR TO THE JEDI
by: Kevin Hearne
January 2015
A thrilling new adventure set between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, and—for the first time ever—written entirely from Luke Skywalker's first-person point of view. Created in collaboration with the Lucasfilm Story Group. Coming January 2015. Jacket art by Larry Rostant.

STAR WARS: LORDS OF THE SITH
by: Paul Kemp
March 2015
When the Emperor and his notorious apprentice, Darth Vader, find themselves stranded in the middle of insurgent action on an inhospitable planet, they must rely solely on each other, the Force, and their awesome martial skills to prevail. Created in collaboration with the Lucasfilm Story Group. Coming March 2015. Jacket art by Aaron McBride.

We had been hearing about the Hearne novel for sometime now.  It was originally part of the Empire and Rebellion miniseries, though the subtitle seems to have been dropped now.  The novel is expected to take place in the Original trilogy era and star Luke Skywalker.

The novel that most excites me is Tarkin by Luceno.  Del Rey said on their Star Wars Books Facebook Page, that Luceno will be giving "Tarkin the Darth Plagueis treatment".  Luceno's Darth Plagueis  is a must read for every Star Wars fan because of the insight it provided into both its titular character Darth Plagueis, but also his apprentice Darth Sidious.  If Tarkin is anything like Plagues then fans are in for a real treat!
