Star Wars fan parents will soon have a new way to introduce their children to the Saga! Disney has just announced that four new Star Wars books aimed at new readers are now in production! Our friend Bryan Young of the Huffington Post reports that the books will focus on Episodes IV, V & VI while anticipating Star Wars Episode VII next year:
"The first of these four books, The Adventures of Luke Skywalker, is being written by the author of the Spiderwick Chronicles, Tony DiTerlizzi and is being illustrated using Ralph McQuarrie's original paintings from the pre-production of the first three Star Wars films.... The rest of the books are adaptations of Episodes IV-VI, each written by a different author and all of them illustrated by Ian McCaig, prequel concept artist and designer behind the look of Darth Maul. A New Hope will be written by R.J. Palacio (Wonder), The Empire Strikes Back will be written by Adam Gidwitz (A Tale Dark and Grimm, and Return of the Jedi will be penned by Tom Angleberger (Origami Yoda series)."
A video introducing the books and their authors was also released:
This is smart move by the powers that be. When Star Wars Episode VII hits theaters on December 18th, 2015, millions, young and old, will be introduced to Star Wars for the first time. While the film will no doubt be the launching point for a brand new story, it will also be the seventh chapter of the vast Star Wars Saga. News fans, especially children, will want to get caught up on the story and learn more about what happened before the Sequels. These books will provide a simple and easy format for younger fans enjoy the Original Trilogy.
