Star Wars Celebrations Will No Longer Be Numbered

During the closing ceremonies for Star Wars Celebration Europe II, Lucasfilm announced where Celebration VII is going to be held. But instead of calling it "Star Wars Celebration VII" like most fans have been doing, the logo shown on stage(above) read "Star Wars Celebration: Anaheim". Ever since then fans have been speculating that Lucasfilm may be dropping the Roman numeral numbering system we've been accustomed to all these years. Today, TheForce.Net has confirmed rumors, stating:

"Lucasfilm has advised us that future Celebrations will be designated with the event's year and location instead of a numerical identifier. For example, the recently-announced seventh U.S. Celebration should be called "Star Wars Celebration 2015" or "Star Wars Celebration Anaheim.""

Club Jade speculates that the change could mean future Celebrations will be held yearly to keep up with both the Sequel and spin-off films, which would be very good news. And keeping the city subtitle could be a hint that Celebration will not be staying in Anaheim. Nevertheless, after fourteen years of Star Wars Celebrations, this will take some getting used to.
