"First Assault" on Hold, Initially Planned as "Battlefront 3" Predecessor

The video game Star Wars: First Assault has never really seen a proper announcement.  The game started out as one of those domain-name-purchases-that-get-blown-way-out-of-proportion-by-fans and since then we have learned next to nothing about the first person shooter under development at LucasArts.  Now the gaming site Kotaku has revealed some some really juicy tidbits about, as well as some leaked footage from, the game.  First off the game was initially planned as a predecessor to - wait for it - Star Wars: Battlefront 3!

Now before you begin celebrating Battlefront fans, we have some bad news as well.  Kotaku is also reporting that the game may be going the way of the 3D re-releases, 1313, and Detours, and has been put on hold after the Disney acquisition of Lucasfilm and its subsidiaries, meaning both First Assault and Battlefront 3 may never see the light of day (what else is new?)

In the meantime Kotaku also has some awesome looking leaked footage of the gameplay that is definitely worth a look.

Check it out Here!
