Episode VII is still two and a half years away and already the rumors for the next installments in the sequel trilogy; and it seems it may feature a real blast from the past! The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Lawrence Kasdan, writer of The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi and Raiders of the Lost Ark, as well as Simon Kinberg, producer of X-Men: First Class and writer of X-Men: Days of Future Past, have signed deals with Lucasfilm to write and produce (along with Kathleen Kennedy) Star Wars Episodes VIII and IX. No official word yet from Lucasfilm, who likely won't speak on the matter until after the release of Episode VII in 2015.
Star Wars episode VII will be written by Michael Arndt (Little Miss Sunshine, Toy Story 3) and is slated for a 2015 release.
What do you think of the idea of bringing OT-veteran Lawrence Kasden back for another Star Wars film? And does the possible inclusion of Kinberg add (or remove) credibility to the rumor that X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn will be directing Episode VII? Let us know in the comments below.
