J.J. Abrams Discusses His & Harrison Ford's Injuries On 'The Force Awakens' Set

Last year Star Wars fans around the World were shocked to hear the news that Harrison Ford had been injured on the set of The Force Awakens. News spread quickly that the actor had broken his ankle when a door fell on him, which led many to believe that it was actually the Millennium Falcon's door. That speculation was never confirmed, and soon after Harrison was back on his feet and finished filming his scenes for Episode VII. Fast forward to last night, director J.J. Abrams appeared on The Daily Show with John Stewart. Even though the interview appeared to revolve around the newly released film Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, of which Abrams is a producer, Stewart immediately shifted the conversation to Star Wars. After talking a bit about early jobs, and getting fired, Stewart brought up Ford's injury and his recent plane crash. Abrams said that Harrison "is like a real-life superhero. He should have the Marvel logo above his name.” He then went on to explain what happened on set that fateful day on how resilient Ford was. Abrams discussed how, while trying to help lift the fallen door off of Harrison, he actually injured himself. You can watch the full interview below(If you're outside the U.S., click here to watch a different version):

It's good to finally get the full story directly from J.J., even though it turned out rather unfortunate for Abrams himself. Thankfully everyone appears to have healed up and we can excitedly look forward to seeing how all their hard work(and pain) paid off this December 18th!

Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert Battle For "Biggest Star Wars Fan" Title in 'Force for Change' Promo

The two funniest men in television have gotten on board with the Star Wars: Force for Change Initiative.  The Daily Show's Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report's Stephen Colbert appeared in a hilarious promo for the Force for Change, in which they battled over who was the biggest Star Wars fan and, as a result, who would be in Star Wars Episode VII (the current grand prize in the Force for Change).

Check out the video below,
It's great to see some A-list celebrities getting involved with Force for Change.  It probably didn't take much convincing to get Colbert and Stewart to appear in the video as both are huge Star Wars fans.  Colbert once got George Lucas to create a special Revenge of the Sith parody (starring him, of course), and Stewart hosted The Main Event, an hour long interview with Lucas, at Celebration V in 2010.

Samuel L. Jackson Talks Star Wars on 'The Daily Show'

Star Wars alum Samuel L. Jackson, aka Mace Windu, appeared on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart to promote his upcoming film, Captain America: The Winter Soldier.  When asked about the process of making big budget action movies, Jackson relayed a story from his experience working on the Star Wars prequels, saying,

"When I first started doing Star Wars it was just a big green room and we had some things in there and I had my lightsaber and George would say 'ok, there's this thing attacking you', and I go 'how big is it?'  And he says 'it's as big as an SUV' and I go 'really, how fast is it?'  And he says 'it's as fast as you want it to be.'  So I'm like I can do anything I want and you'll draw stuff around me?  He says kick all the ass you want and we will make sure it looks like you're the baddest Mother F@#$er in the universe....And then I go the movie and I'm like f@#$!  Look at me!"

What I like about Sam Jackson interview is that he never whines about having to work with green screen.  Whenever he talks about his experience on Star Wars it's always a positive one, and you get the sense that he really appreciates the fact that he got to be a part of the galaxy far, far away.

Star Wars Episode VII director JJ Abrams, made an appearance on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart to promote his new film Star Trek: Into Darkness.  Naturally, with Stewart being a big Star Wars fan, the conversation turned to Star Wars multiple times.  Some of the Star Wars highlights include:

  • Stewart telling Abrams that now, since Abarams is directing both franchises, he will no longer be attending Star Wars or Star Trek conventions but will instead just be sitting on Abrams lap
  • Stewart requesting a role in Episode VII
  • Abrams using a Jedi mind trick on Stewart saying jokingly "You don't want to be in Star Wars"

Fans outside the U.S and Canada can check the broadcast version of the interview here.

Star Wars Reference on "The Daily Show"

By: Dominic Jones

It is not uncommon for Star Wars references to make their way onto Comedy Central's The Daily Show With Jon Stewart.  Jon Stewart is admittedly a Star Wars fan as are many of the show's writers.  However, the most recent reference was different because it was not made by Stewart, but by his guest, New York Mets pitcher and 2012 National league Cy Young award winner, R.A. Dickey.  Dickey appeared on December 4th, 2012 episode to discuss his participation in the upcoming documentary Knuckleball! and was asked by Stewart about the fraternity of knuckleball pitchers in Major League Pitchers.  Dickey replied with "I was so fortunate to be exposed to, what I call, the Jedi Council of knuckleballers."  The reference got a great laugh from the crowd as well as Stewart.

It's always nice to see the worlds of sports and Star Wars coming together!
