Marvel comics announced today that the Star Wars: Poe Dameron ongoing comic book series will be coming to an end in September. The series, which kicked off in April 2016, mainly focused on Poe's adventures leading up to the events of The Force Awakens--specifically the search for Lor San Tekka. More recently the series had shifted to telling the story of The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi from the point of view of Poe and his friends in Black Squadron (with some fun interludes set on the Millennium Falcon after the Battle of Crait featuring Rey, Finn, and Poe all together).
Lucasfilm and Marvel comics from the next issue of the Star Wars: Poe Dameron ongoing comic book series. Poe Dameron #26, which hits shelves on April 18th, begins to tell the story of what happened to Poe during the events of The Force Awakens between crashing on Jakku with Finn and his reappearance on Takodonna. The preview, which was released online by 13th Dimension, features the first few pages of the issue where we see Poe, Finn, and Rey all together on the Millennium Falcon after the events of The Last Jedi. The trio are reflecting on how they could have met each other sooner, which leads to Finn asking Poe to tell them how he escaped Jakku.
By: Benjamin Hart "Finn! You must have a thousand questions." "Where's Rey?"
You can tell we're getting really close to the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi just based on the TV spots! We've been getting a ton of them lately that have treated us to lots of new footage and dialogue from the film.
You've seen the movie countless times, now it's time to read it! Very soon Marvel will be releasing the first issue of their comic book adaptation of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Thanks to Comic Book Resources we have a new preview of the comic, which is set for release on June 22nd. This sneak peak gives us a number of page from the comic which cover the beginning of the film's story, including the attack on the Jakku village and Rey's introduction. In addition, we get a look at several variant covers. You can see it all below, along with the official description:
"It's true—all of it! The biggest movie of the year jumps from the big screen to the comic book page! It's been three decades since the Rebel Alliance destroyed the Death Star and toppled the Galactic Empire...but now, on the remote planet of Jakku...there is a stirring in the Force. A young scavenger named Rey...a deserting stormtrooper named Finn...an ace pilot name Poe...and a dark apprentice named Kylo Ren...Their lives are about to collide as the awakening begins. Written by Chuck Wendig (STAR WARS: AFTERMATH) and drawn by Luke Ross (HERCULES), take us on our first steps back into the Saga of a lifetime!"
Excitement is building(pun intended) for the next big Lego video game! Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set for release next month and the promotional campaign for it is starting to kick into high gear. Today, Lucasfilm and Lego unveiled a brand new character spotlight video for the game which focuses on beloved ace X-Wing pilot Poe Dameron. Poe will be a playable character in the game along with an assortment of others including Rey, Finn, Han Solo, Chewbacca and BB-8. You can check out the video below:
As you can hear in the video, it sounds like Oscar Isaac, who portrayed Poe in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, has returned to provide brand new dialogue for the game. If you want to see(and hear) more Poe Dameron Lego footage, you can watch eight minutes of gameplay footage below courtesy of IGN:
Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be hitting a variety of platforms on June 28th!
While Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is beginning to take center stage, production on the following Star Wars film is well underway. Star Wars: Episode VIII won't hit theaters until late next year, but that doesn't stop us from being extremely excited about seeing the further adventures of Rey, Finn, Luke Skywalker and others. Fan favorite Poe Dameron will also be returning to the big screen in Episode VIII, and the actor being the ace pilot, Oscar Isaac, recently spoke with the LA Times about how production is progressing with new director Rian Johnson. They discussed some previous comments made by The Force Awakens co-writer Lawrence Kasdan about the Johnson, where he stated that director's work would be "weird" and that it was going to be unlike "anything that's ever been in Star Wars." Oscar Isaac concurs:
"I would agree with [Kasdan], Rian is definitely going to places and investigating things that haven’t really been done in the 'Star Wars' universe. For me, it’s so fun getting to explore different things that I wouldn’t have expected in this universe."
Isaac, who became well know prior to Star Wars through several independent films, such a Inside Llewyn Davis and last year's Ex Machina, says that working with Johnson on Episode VIII has an Indie vibe:
"In some ways it feels like we’re making an independent film, Certain things we get to play with – this kind of intimacy that we get to find – it's special. It’s been really fun."
The first six films of the Star Wars saga were truly independent films, so its nice to hear that these new films are also exhibiting a those Indie qualities, despite Lucasfilm now being part of the Disney conglomerate. Star Wars: Episode VIII opens in theaters December 15th, 2017. Source: LA Times

Comic Book Resources has unveiled a preview of the comic which includes a few pages along with several variant covers from the first issue. You can also get a look at a page from a backup story that's included in the issue which stars BB-8. You can check it all out below:

It seems there's no shorter of Lego Star Wars content these days. Following the announce of the Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens video game, as well as the The Freemaker Adventures TV series, Lucasfilm has announced a series of Lego animated shorts. Lego Star Wars: The Resistance Rises is set prior to Episode VII: The Force Awakens and will feature many characters from the film including Rey, Finn, Poe Dameron, Han Solo, Kylo Ren and more.
The first episode, titled "Poe To The Rescue", will air this Monday, February 15th, at 8:00pm ET on Disney XD. A clip from the episode was released and features Poe Dameron, along with BB-8 and C-3PO, rescuing Admiral Ackbar from the clutches of Captain Phasma and the First Order. You can watch it below:
Ever since he was cast in The Force Awakens we have heard a lot about about Oscar Isaac's life long love of Star Wars. Isaac, who portrays Poe Dameron in the film, has talked in the past how he once dressed as a Gonk Droid and how much his family also loves the Saga. Oscar specifically describes his Uncle, Guillermo, as "the biggest Star Wars fan". In a new featurette released by Lucasfilm, Isaac tells a story about during filming of The Force Awakens he introduced his uncle to director J.J. Abrams. Abrams, already familiar with his passion for Star Wars, offered to put Guillermo in the film. You can watch the video below:

We will be watching a brand new Star Wars movie next week... hard to believe isn't it? We've got just a few days until the premiere of The Force Awakens, and the wait is getting even harder to endure. To help tide us over a bit longer, we just got our hands on some brand new photos from the film courtesy of MovieJones.com. These stunning images give us new looks at the new, and old cast of characters, including Rey, Poe, BB-8, Chewbacca, Leia and Han Solo, as well as an epic new shot of General Hux, Kylo Ren and Captain Phasma on the bridge of a Star Destroyer. We also got a few new behind the scenes shots. You can check them all out below:
Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens hits theaters next Friday, December 18th!
Back when we got those amazing character posters for The Force Awakens, which featured Rey, Finn, Han Solo, General Leia and Kylo Ren, one question seemed to be on everyone's mind; where's Poe? The Resistance X-Wing pilot, who's described as "the best friggin' pilot in the galaxy" by Oscar Isaac who portrays him in the film, Poe Dameron's presence in various promotional material has been surprisingly underwhelming as of late. But it seems now Lucasfilm is making up for the lack of Poe with a brand new character poster. Poe is in his flight suit with scars on his face, perhaps implying that we're seeing him after his violent encounter with Kylo Ren that was teased in the trailer. The poster was revealed on the official Star Wars Facebook page, which you can check out below!
It's also worth noting that they refer to him as "Black Leader", which confirms a long standing rumor that this will be Poe's call sign in the film. It's also most likely a reference to the fact that Poe flies a Black X-Wing at some point in the film, as we have seen in various trailers and TV spots.
Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens opens in theaters on December 18th!
December 18th is the biggest date for Star Wars fan in recent memory with the release of Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, but the movie isn't the only thing being revealed then. An assortment of books will also be hitting the shelves on that Friday and one of them is DK's Star Wars: The Force Awakens Incredible Cross-Sections. Today StarWars.com unveiled the cover art for the book which features an awesome cutaway look at Poe Dameron's black X-Wing. This book is sure to give us an inside look at plenty more ships from Episode VII. Check out the full cover below:
Look for this book along with many others, including The Art Of The Force Awakens, The Force Awakens Visual Dictionary and The Force Awakens adult & junior novelizations, on December 18th!
Think we've seen all the TV ads for The Force Awakens? Think again. A brand new duo of TV spots just dropped, and with them comes previously unseen footage. Our friends at Making Star Wars turned us on to these. Despite their poor quality we do get looks at some brand new characters, as well as some we've heard about but haven't seen much of.
The first one, which comes from YouTube user Sarco Plank features some reused footage, but towards the beginning we get a few new scenes with Poe Dameron and two other pilots. Those pilots appear to be Jessika Pava and Nien Nunb. As Making Star Wars reports, Jessika Pava is a character that first appeared in the recently released novel Weapon of a Jedi and has been rumored to be appearing in The Force Awakens, played by Jessica Henwick. Nien Nunb, of course, is the Sullustain who co-piloted the Millennium Falcon with Lando in Return Of The Jedi and was recently confirmed to be among the returning cast of characters.
In addition, a new behind the scenes TV spot aired on Disney Channel in the UK and a recording of it showed up on YouTube courtesy of JoshGillMusic. In it there is some new scenes, as well as some slightly longer versions of previously released footage. The most notable shot comes at 0:17 where we see Finn ignite the Skywalker Lightsaber, and next to him Maz Kanata is in the bottom left corner. Even though Maz has appeared on the theatrical poster, this is the first real close up we've gotten of her.
Epic stuff! It's great to finally get a closer look at Maz Kanata, and seeing who will be part of Poe Dameron's X-Wing Squadron(s) is an extra treat.
Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens opens in theaters in the U.S. on December 18th!
Earlier this week Empire Magazine teased that Star Wars was going to be be featured in their upcoming issue, and this morning they revealed two stunning foldout covers that feature characters Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens prominently. One is a villain cover which includes Captain Phasma, Kylo Ren and General Hux in a First Order hanger bay surrounded by Stormtroopers and TIE Fighters. The other is a hero cover, which shows Finn, Rey, Poe Dameron and BB-8 standing on Jakku near the Millennium Falcon. You can both of them in full below:
Now, as awesome as both of these covers are, I must point out two odd espects about them that a lot of you have probably already noticed. Firstly, on the left side of the villain you can see that the Stormtroopers are Original Trilogy Stormtroopers and not the new First Order Stormtroopers that have been shown to be appearing in the film. Secondly, on the hero cover, the Millennium Falcon's radar dish is round and not rectangular as we've seen in The Force Awakens. Whether these are mistake or simply subtle callbacks to the Original Trilogy is unclear, but worth noting.
Both of these covers will be on newsstands next Thursday, August 27th!
