Some big changes are coming to Marvel's Star Wars comics very soon! Since recapturing the license to create new Star Wars comics, Marvel has been hard at work on many different series, which have all revolved around the flagship series, simply titled "Star Wars."

Lucasfilm and Marvel Comics announced a new Star Wars comics crossover event this week. The event, titled Star Wars: The Screaming Citadel, will kick off in May and will crossover the Star Wars series and the Doctor Aphra series. The event will be written by Jason Aaron and Kieron Gillen, the writers of the two respective series. The Screaming Citadel will feature Luke Skywalker teaming up with Doctor Aphra to "investigate the Screaming Citadel, an infamous castle located on the edge of space." The Star Wars Show was chock full of huge news this week! Not only did it contain the
announcement of a new trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story coming tomorrow morning, but it also contained some major
Star Wars comics news as well. With the conclusion of
Star Wars: Darth Vader this week, Marvel announced a new ongoing series that would take its place beginning in December. The series, titled
Star Wars: Doctor Aphra, will follow the adventures of the titular character
after the events of
Darth Vader #25 (out today). The series will see Aphra return to what she knows best, being a space archaeologist and will feature the droids BT-1 and 0-0-0 and the Wookiee bounty hunter black Krrsantan. The series is written by Kieron Gillen, who created Aphra for the
Darth Vader series.

Marvel is wrapping up the ongoing Star Wars: Darth Vader comic book series next month with issue 25 hitting shelves on October 12th. The book, which debuted in February 2015, was one of the first series announced from Marvel and so far Marvel has yet to announce a replacement. It looks like they are saving such an announcement for next month's New York Comic Con, but the first details about the new series have been released by way of Marvel's December solicitations. According to the solicitations, Darth Vader writer Kieron Gillen will be penning this new series with art by Kev Walker (Uncanny Inhumans). There will be two issues in December.
