For the past few years our pal Jamie Stangroom has been on a mission to discover the identity of the stormtrooper who bumped their head in a scene in Star Wars: A New Hope.  Now, he's compiled the evidence and produced his results in the form of the new documentary, The Empire Strikes Door, which you can watch now on YouTube.

We're now less that 80 days from Star Wars Celebration Chicago, Lucasfilm's official fan convention taking place this April, and StarWars.com had some exciting reveals about the show today.  First, several new guests were announced.  These include Chewbacca actor Joonas Suatomo (The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, Solo), Sam Witwer (voice of Darth Maul in The Clone Wars, Rebels, and Solo), and Greg Grunberg (Snap Wexley in The Force Awakens and maybe Episode IX).

Greg Grunberg Hints at Return For 'Star Wars Episode IX'

A familiar face from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, who was conspicuous by their absence in The Last Jedi, looks to be making a return in 2019's Star Wars Episode IX.  Greg Grunberg, who played the X-Wing pilot Temin "Snap" Wexley in The Force Awakens, spoke with Yahoo! Movies during San Diego Comic Con this past weekend, while sporting a beard that is very similar to Snap's, and all but confirmed he'll be back in the upcoming film.  You can see Grunberg's response below,

JJ Abrams Has High Praise Rian Johnson's Episode VIII Script

JJ Abrams' time in the Star Wars director's chair may done, with the next installment in the saga being directed by Rian Johnson.  Abrams, who will still be an executive producer on Star Wars Episode VIII, has read the script for the sequel and, according to Greg Grunberg, he loves it.

Grunberg, who plays X-Wing pilot Temmin "Snap" Wexley in The Force Awakens, told The Washington Post,
“He read it and said something he never, ever says,” Grunberg, who plays pilot Snap Wexley in the new film, tells The Post’s Comic Riffs. “He said: ‘It’s so good, I wish I were making it.’

“He may have said something one time on ‘Lost,’ with Damon [Lindelof, the co-creator],” continues Grunberg, whose credits on Abrams series include “Lost” and “Felicity,” “but I never hear him express regret like that.”

Production on Episode VIII is expected begin in January with the majority of the main cast returning (with one, sad, obvious exception).  Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey, also shared her thoughts on the Episode VIII script recently, calling it "very good".  Some scenes involving Mark Hamill were shot for Episode VIII back in September at Skellig Michael (you know, THAT location from the end of the film).

As for Grunberg returning, he didn't confirm anything but, he did reveal that while shooting the film he shot a bunch of reaction shots but refused to say the line "I'm hit."  Maybe Snap will be the Wedge of the new trilogy.

More 'The Force Awakens' Action Figures Reveal New Characters

By: Benjamin Hart

As close as we are to the release of Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, the leaks aren't stopping. It's been a while since we've gotten any reveals via new toys, and this newest one is quite intriguing. Our friends at Making Star Wars alerted us to a report by Jedi Temple Archives who got their hands on photos of two never before seen action figures that appear to reveal new character that will be appearing in Episode VII. Of course I should issue a minor SPOILER alert for the following if you'd rather not know anything prior to seeing the movie.

The first is a figure for a hairy alien named "Hassak Thug."

Many have pointed to this piece of Ralph McQuarrie concept art from A New Hope as a possible inspiration. Others have even pointed out it's resemblance to Zeb Orellios from Star Wars Rebels.

Additionally, we have this figure two pack featuring a First Order Snowtrooper Officer and a Resistance pilot. The pilot is the most intriguing figure because it appears to be the character played by Greg Grunberg, who we've seen and heard a lot about before. He was previously rumored to be named Gorwyn, but the packaging reveals his name to be Snap Wexley. Interestingly Snap shares his surname with Norra and Temmin Wexley, two characters that appeared in the recent novel Star Wars: Aftermath, which is set just a few months following the events of Return Of The Jedi. Could there be a connection there? I would bet a good amount that there is.

I always enjoy leaks like this because it's just enough to enhance the viewing of the movie without really giving anything away about the plot. I can't wait to see both these characters and all the rest on the big screen when The Force Awakens hits theaters on December 18th!

Greg Grunberg Talks 'The Force Awakens'

By: Benjamin Hart

Greg Grunberg is one name we've heard a lot lately. A part from being a life long friend to Director J.J. Abrams,  last week we learned about who he might be playing in The Force Awakens, and even got a photo of him in costume. Now we get to hear from Grunberg himself via a recent interview he did with Entertainment Weekly. In it, he admits the extreme secrecy surrounding the film prevents him from saying much about his role, but he does drop a hint, saying that he is, "sprinkled throughout the whole movie, in a very small way." He also has extremely high praise for Episode VII, as you can read in the excerpt below:

"I can’t talk about who I play or what I did. But just imagine that you get a call from your best friend saying, “It’s true, I’m doing Star Wars and you can stop begging me, yes, I want you to be in this movie.” It was an absolute dream come true. I have been such a fan of all the actors and everything about Star Wars. … Some people may not have loved some of the movies, but it’s a whole world you can’t deny how super compelling and awesome it is, and I can’t believe I’m part of it. Like there were moments when J.J. would yell, ‘Cut’,’ and then come over to me and go, ‘Are you f–king kidding me? Did that just happen? Did I just pan from C-3PO to R2-D2 to Han Solo and then to you?’ I spent seven weeks in London and it was heaven. And it’s crazy cause usually I’m the first person that J.J. calls to bounce ideas off. This one is so top secret, and so on lockdown, that all I can do is ask him, ‘How’s it going?’ and he’s like, ‘Oh, I’m really happy.’ So I know if he’s happy it’s just gonna be incredible."

Be sure to read the full interview on EW.com!

It's always awesome to hear from those who've been behind the scenes of Episode VII, especially someone as exuberant about the Saga as Grunberg is. We can't wait to see what role he has to play in the future of the Saga when The Force Awakens opens in theaters December 18th!

Rumor: Details About Greg Grunberg's Character In 'The Force Awakens' Revealed

Apart from the major cast members, such as John Boyega and Daisy Ridley, we've come to know several actors that will have presumably minor roles in The Force Awakens. One of which is Greg Gunberg, who is a life long friend of director J.J. Abrams and best know for his performance in the TV series Heroes. Who exactly Grunberg is playing in the film remains a mystery, but some new clues about his character have turned up which could give us some ideas. Back in May Star Wars 7 News reported that Grunberg appeared on a Nerdist Podcast and revealed some small but intriguing details about his character. Be warned, minor SPOILERS follow if you don't want to know anything about The Force Awakens:

  • He has signed for three movies.
  • He shot for 7 weeks in London at Pinewood.
  • He is not a CG character.
  • He has facial hair.
  • He has no prosthetics.
  • He never read the whole script. It was on red paper.
  • There will be an action figure with his character.
  • The actors had to wear cloaks while walking towards the set.

And to add to this, apparently Greg Grunberg attended a convention where a fan made, life sized version of the Millennium Falcon cockpit was on display. Chris Lee, the founder and leader of the team that built the cockpit(and is proceeding to build the entire ship as well), recalled in a video released late last year that Grunberg visited their display and divulged some details about Episode VII to him and his team. One of which was that his character “spends a significant amount of time in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon" in The Force Awakens.

We don't have a lot to go on here, but it's something. The fact that Greg Gunberg's character is on board the Millennium Falcon extensively could mean several things. We've heard that Han and Chewie are not in possession of the Falcon at the begining of Episode VII, and Han's now infamous line, "Chewie, we're home" emphasizes that idea. Could Grunberg's character be the current owner of the Millennium Falcon? Who knows! As always, these are simply rumors until confirmed by Lucasfilm, so don't take them too seriously.

All will be revealed when Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens comes to big screens everywhere December 18th!
