By: Dominic Jones

We're used to hearing Freddie Prinze Jr as the voice of Kanan Jarrus, the jaded Jedi Master on Star Wars Rebels, so hearing him talk about the Force and balance of the Force is always a treat.  The actor made an appearance on The Friendship Pod, where he went on an incredible (and profane) rant about Star Wars.  Among the topics addressed are balance of the Force, Darth Maul, and Star Wars fans complaining about the new movies. Check out the three minute video below,

'Star Wars Rebels: Season Two' Press Conference Recap

By: Benjamin Hart

Star Wars Rebels is once again in the news just ahead of the premiere of the hit animated series' second season. Earlier today it was revealed that Sarah Michelle Gellar will be voicing the Seventh Sister, and just a few minutes ago a press conference wrapped which featured Executive Producer Dave Filoni, along with cast members Dee Bradley Baker(Clone Troopers), Freddie Prinze Jr.(Kanan), Vanessa Marshall(Hera) and Ashley Eckstein(Ahsoka) discussing the upcoming season. During the press conference it was announced that a new trailer for season two is slated to be released next week. In addition, the panel revealed several other fascinating details:

  • The trailer will feature a big moment for Sabine and Mandalore.
  • Dave Filoni has charts and diagrams of Mandalorians and their culture.
  • Sabine's history will be explored this season.
  • Kanan will reveal his past concerning Caleb Dume in an honest an emotional way that's described as "the type of confession that makes you stronger."
  • Filoni remarked that Boba Fett is "always a possibility" to appear, but we will not see him in season two.
  • One episode will focus on Chopper and reveal how Hera found him.
  • This season will delve into Hera's backstory and her history with Ryloth.
  • All of the Ghost crew will have their own background story episodes.

Very exciting stuff! I can't wait to see the new trailer, and it sounds like we're finally get to find out where all these characters came from and why they are motivated to fight the Empire. It's definitely something many fans have been hoping to see since the series began.

Season two of Star Wars Rebels will premiere on October 14th with the airing "The Lost Commanders" on Disney XD at 9:30pm! That episode, along with the following one "Relics of the Old Republic", will be screened at New York Comic Con on October 8th ahead of the premiere.

Sarah Michelle Gellar Joins The 'Star Wars Rebels' Cast

By: Benjamin Hart

If you're not watching Star Wars Rebels already, you need to change that right now! The series premiered last year and has been getting better and better ever since, featuring many awesome guest stars such as Lando Calrissian and Yoda, all leading up to a mind blowing cameo in last night's season finale. But the shocking developments don't stop there, we have just received word that yet another big name guest star is coming to the show! Sarah Michelle Gellar, who is perhaps best know for playing the title role in Buffy The Vampire Slayer, has joined the cast of Star Wars Rebels. Gellar confirmed it earlier today on Instagram when she posted a photo of herself in the studio with Rebels executive producer Dave Filoni with the caption. "Anyone want to guess..." You can check it out below!

The most interesting aspect of this news is the fact that Gellar is actually the real life wife of Freddie Prinze Jr., who voices leading Jedi Kanan Jarrus on the series. It is unknown whether her role will be just a cameo, or her character will have a sizable part in the series. Nevertheless, it will be awesome to have "Buffy" herself finally join the Star Wars universe!

Report: Second Season Of 'Rebels' Will Be Twice As Long As The First

By: Benjamin Hart

Season one of Star Wars Rebels is drawing to a close, and while we don't know exactly how episodes are left to be aired this season, we may have an idea about next season. Freddie Prinze Jr., who voices Kanan Jarrus on the show, recently tweeted an interesting behind the scenes tidbit about season two of Rebels:

There are currently 13 episodes that make up season one, including the TV movie Spark Of Rebellion and three upcoming episodes. It's unclear whether this is all the episodes, or more are still yet to be announced. We speculated on the latest SWU Podcast that season one may continue further. If what Freddie is saying is correct, and he's certainly a trustworthy source, then that could mean that season two could be around 22 episodes in length, similarly to it's predecessor Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Season two is slated to premiere at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim in April with a special screening of the first two episodes. This has lead to speculation that season two could begin airing on television soon after. An extended season could last through the summer lead into the release of The Force Awakens.

As always, we will await an official announcement from Lucasfilm!

Freddie Prinze Jr. Talks 'Star Wars Rebels'

By: Dominic Jones

The good folks over at Yodas News sat down with Star Wars Rebels star Freddie Prinze Jr. to talk about the series and his character Kanan.  Freddie answered ten questions for them, here's a taste of what he had to say,

Lea: What do you do to get into Kanan’s character for a “Rebels” recording session? Is it a method acting mentality when you all get together?
Freddie: To me the Jedi are samurai. Disciplined, loyal, alone but not lonely. With Kanan, that was his life, was. At a young age his master is taken, I can’t say how, season 2 greatness. So now you have a kid, trained as a Jedi, who doesn’t question his worthiness in battle but certainly is more street than book-smart, forced into a roll of leadership. So he’s cocky, but complicated. He’s patient but aggressive. Tough line to walk as far as staying true to the Jedi rules we all know and respect. The writers and Dave (Filoni) do a great job of making him pay when he goes astray so my job is simple; once I have THAT guy in my head and Dave breaks down the world around us its just about committing to the moment, regardless of how heavy or light the moment is.

Mark: Lando Calrissian from “The Empires Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi” makes his return to the galaxy with “Idiot’s Array,” that aired January 19 on Disney XD in the US, how awesome is that and did you have a chance to catch up with him when he did his lines?
F: The Lando episode was such a trip to read let alone perform. You know the writers were geeking out/steel cage fighting it out to write that episode. We weren’t able to record with Billy, but we had his recording to work with. He’s a living legend.

It's Kanan VS The Inquisitor In New 'Rebels' Clip

By: Benjamin Hart

Star Wars Rebels is just days away from it's official Television premiere, and it's already available to watch online for some. We've gotten tons of awesome previews in the lead up to the premiere, but today, courtesy of USA Today, we have been treated to a fantastic new clip from one of the upcoming episodes which features leading Jedi Kanan Jarrus(Freddie Prinze Jr.) in a fierce Lightsaber duel with the Inquisitor(Jason Isaacs). You can check it out below!

I should mention that there are SPOILERS included in the clip.

USA Today also caught up with Rebels Executive producer Dave Filoni and several of the actors behind the scenes. Filoni says the Inqusitor is an "evil version of Sherlock Holmes." Jason Isaacs adds, "Everybody he encounters is so far beneath his skill level that it doesn't tax him... I wanted him to enjoy the chase and enjoy the hunt. He's not in a panic, nothing's about to blow up. He can take on any number of adversaries and still have time to read the newspaper and get his nails done."

And when it comes to the Inquisitor's allies, specifically ISB(Imperial Security Bureau) Agent Kallus, he's not exactly a joy to work with. Filoni continues, "Kallus isn't pleased this guy is around... He'd rather work without him, but it's procedure. He has to call him and say, 'Hey, I might have a Jedi problem out here. You better come look at this.' " David Oyelowo, who voices Kallus, added, "He's muscle on the ground.... but you can just tell, with every line, with every action he makes, he has his sights set higher."

And finally, Dave Filoni expressed his interest in bringing back James Earl Jones to voice a classic baddie. "We have a nice history of honoring the great legacy characters,... It would be a shame never to have Darth Vader in the show, I'll say that much."

It's also worth noting this one line from USA Today:

"As part of a new generation of Star Wars projects, Rebels will tie in with future stories including next year's Episode VII movie."

We've heard all the rumors about the Inqusitors in Episode VII and how it might connect to Rebels. Is this further confirmation of that speculation? That's for you to decide for now. Be sure to check out the full article on USA Today's site.

Be sure to tune into the Star Wars Rebels premiere, Spark Of Rebellion, on the Disney Channel this Friday, October 3rd and Disney XD on October 13th.

Freddie Prinze Jr. Talks 'Rebels' At NY Toy Fair

Freddie Prinze Jr. appears on stage alongside
members of the 501st legion at New York Toy Fair.
By: Benjamin Hart

We're now hot off the heels of New York Toy Fair and all of the Hasbro Star Wars news that came from it. Most notably was Hasbro's presentation of the new Star Wars Rebels line, based on the animated series coming this fall to Disney XD. Lucas Siegel of Newsarama was in attendance and gave us some of the first ever images of Star Wars Rebels characters. Today he is reporting on Disney's presentation there, which included an appearance by actor Freddie Prinze Jr., who voices Kanan Jarrus on show. Lucas writes:

"Freddie Prinze Junior took the stage with two Stormtroopers to talk about the new toys. After looking at the LEGO "Ghost" ship, Prinze said that when he went to the audition, he didn't know he was going in for a Star Wars show... He walked in the door and said "is this ___ing Star Wars? You guys have to give me a minute" and left the room, collected himself, then came back in for the audition. His excitement about the show is palpable... They shoot Rebels all together, Prinze said. They have about half of season one done now, and he said "when there's a week we don't record, I'm bummed out. I jones for it!"... Prinze did joke that they call Stormtroopers "Bucket heads" on the show, then did a Jedi Mind trick on them on stage saying "I'm not the Rebel you're looking for" before leaving the stage."

If you haven't already, check out two new teasers trailers for Rebels that were released today, as well as Kanan's introduction video, featuring Freddie.
