'The Mandalorian' Season One Finale Preview Synopsis Revealed

We've passed the halfway point in the first season of The Mandalorian, and the series has already taken some exciting twists and turns. With just four episodes left in season one (with season two already in production, thankfully), Disney has released a brief preview synopsis of the season finale, which will be released on Disney+ on December 27th.  The synopsis is not super spoiler-y, but if you want to go into the finale (or even the back half of the season) without knowing anything I would recommend you stop reading now.

The synopsis for finale says,

"The Mandalorian comes face-to-face with an unexpected enemy."

At first glance, the synopsis doesn't seem to reveal much, however I find the use of the phrase "face-to-face" intriguing.  We learned in the two most recent episodes that the Mandalorians we've meet on this show (including the lead character, played by Pedro Pascal) do not remove their helmets in front of anyone.  We learned in Chapter 4: Sanctuary that the titular Mandalorian has not shown his face to anyone since he was child. Obviously this could just be the use of a common phrase, however given the emphasis on the character not removing his helmet it seems possible that it means something more.

The Mandalorian is set following the events of Return of the Jedi and follows the adventures of a "lone gunfighter", as he navigates the galaxy in the post-Empire/early days of the New Republic.  The first four episodes of the series are available now on Disney+, with episode five being released on Friday. You can check out the trailer for the series below,

The series is available now on Disney+, and stars Pedro Pascal as The Mandalorian, Gina Carrano as Cara Dune, Carl Weathers as Greef Carga, Giancarlo Esposito as Moff Gideon, Nick Nolte as Kuiil, Werner Herzog as "The Client", Emily Swallow as "The Armorer", and Omid Abtahi as Dr. Pershing.  The Mandalorian is executive produced by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, with episodes directed by Filoni, Bryce Dallas Howard, Deborah Chow, and Rick Famuyiwa, and Taika Waititi.
