After the success of this year's Star Wars: Queen's Shadow, Lucasfilm publishing has announced another Padme Amidala novel from author E.K. Johnston is coming. Star Wars: Queen's Peril was announced today on The Star Wars Show. The novel is a prequel to Queen's Shadow (which took place after the events of The Phantom Menace), and will tell the story of Padme's life after she was first elected Queen of Naboo prior to Episode I. The novel is slated to hit shelves on May 5th, 2020.

I really enjoyed Queen's Shadow, so I'm really looking forward to Queen's Peril. I thought the first book was a really interesting character study of Padme at a key transition point in her life. I also enjoyed the way Johnston fleshed out the characters of several of Padme's handmaidens.
