One of the characters we met in the first episode of The Mandalorian (available now on Disney+) is the mysterious armorer, played by Emily Swallow (The Mentalist). Her character was only seen briefly in the first episode but she made a big impact on the story, allowing us to have some brief insight into our main character's backstory. Swallow's involvement in the series was part of the main cast announcement back in December 2018, so it seems unlikely that this is the last we'll see of The Armorer. Swallow teased as much on her Instagram, posting that, "she knows more than she lets on..."
The actress offered up some more insight into her character in the post, writing that The Armorer is "the covert leader of a #Mandalorian clan in hiding, she’s held in the highest esteem and is regarded as the keeper of the old traditions of Mandalore." You can see the full post below,
[SPOILER ALERT for "Chapter One"]: We meet The Armorer when The Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) brings the beskar he got as a down payment from The Client (why does nobody have a real name on this show?) to the Mandalorian compound. She then melts down the beskar block and makes it into a new pauldron. [Spoilers End]
The Mandalorian is set following the events of Return of the Jedi and follows the adventures of a "lone gunfighter", as he navigates the galaxy in the post-Empire/early days of the New Republic. The first episode of the series is available now on Disney+, with episode two being released on Friday. You can check out the trailer for the series below,
The series debuts on November 12th on Disney+, and stars Pedro Pascal as The Mandalorian, Gina Carrano as Cara Dune, Carl Weathers as Greef Carga, and Giancarlo Esposito as Moff Gideon, as well as Nick Nolte, Werner Herzog, Emily Swallow, and Omid Abtahi in unknown roles. The Mandalorian is executive produced by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, with episodes directed by Filoni, Bryce Dallas Howard, Deborah Chow, and Rick Famuyiwa, and Taika Waititi.
