Report: Release Schedule For 'The Mandalorian' Episodes Revealed

Ever since it was announced that Lucasfilm would be producing their first live action Star Wars series for the new streaming service Disney+, fans have been wondering whether episodes of The Mandalorian would be released all at once or one episode every week.  We now, it seems, have our answer.  It turns out that episodes will be released individually, but not quite weekly either.  The full schedule was released by Fandom on Twitter, which you can see below,

In case you can't see the tweet for some reason, the schedule is:

E1 – Nov. 12
E2 – Nov. 15
E3 – Nov. 22
E4 – Nov. 29
E5 – Dec. 6
E6 – Dec. 13
E7 – Dec. 18
E8 – Dec. 27

It's no surprise that the first episode is being released the same day as the streaming service launches on November 12th.  What is exciting though is that we'll be getting the second episode just three days later on the 15th.  Then we'll get episodes every seven days until, episode seven.  The seventh episode will air on December 18th, just five days after the sixth episode on December 13th.  Why that is, I have no idea. But, it does mean that you'll be able to watch a new episode of The Mandalorian one day and then go screening of The Rise Of Skywalker the very next day, which has the official release date of December 20th.  And, as an added wrinkle to all this, there will be nine day gap between the seventh and eighth episodes of The Mandalorian, with the finale being released on December 27th.

Is that the most bizarre release schedule for a TV show?  Probably not.  But it's not exactly straight forward either.  The fact that a Star Wars movie is coming out in theaters around the same time probably complicates things, not to mention the fact that Disney will looking to keep subscribers engaged with their content in the early weeks of Disney+.  Regardless, the idea of seeing two new pieces of Star Wars entertainment on the same day (with episode seven of The Mandalorian and The Rise Of Skywalker) is pretty cool.

The Mandalorian is set following the events of Return of the Jedi and follows the adventures of a "lone gunfighter", as he navigates the galaxy in the post-Empire/early days of the New Republic.  The series debuts on Disney+ on November 12th.  If you haven't seen the new trailer, you can check it out below,

The series debuts on November 12th on Disney+, and stars Pedro Pascal as The Mandalorian, Gina Carrano as Cara Dune, Carl Weathers as Greef Carga, and Giancarlo Esposito as Moff Gideon, as well as Nick Nolte, Werner Herzog, Emily Swallow, and Omid Abtahi in unknown roles.  The Mandalorian is executive produced by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, with episodes directed by Filoni, Bryce Dallas Howard, Deborah Chow, and Rick Famuyiwa, and Taika Waititi.
