Huge news just dropped that are sure to get Star Wars and Marvel fans really excited!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has joined Lucasfilm to produce a new Star Wars film! Almost no information about the film is known at this time, except for a quote from Walt Disney Studios co-chairman and chief creative officer Alan Horn who spoke with THR about this development:

"We are excited about the projects [Kathleen Kennedy] and the Lucasfilm team are working on, not only in terms of Star Wars but also Indiana Jones and reaching into other parts of the company including Children of Blood and Bone with Emma Watts and Fox. With the close of the Skywalker Saga, Kathy is pursuing a new era in Star Wars storytelling, and knowing what a die-hard fan Kevin is, it made sense for these two extraordinary producers to work on a Star Wars film together."

Kevin Feige has garnered much acclaim over the past decade having been at the helm of Marvel Studios producing almost two dozens films for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In addition to his Marvel credits, Feige has not hidden the fact the he is a massive Star Wars fan, making him a seemingly perfect fit for the Galaxy far, far away. None of that is more apparent than in an interview with The Star Wars Show he did last year:

The only other tidbit THR provided was from a source who hinted at a notable actor Feige is eyeing to cast in this unknown film:

"One knowledgeable source says Feige has told a major actor that there’s a specific role he would like that person to play when and if he makes the movie."

And before the rumor mill tries to take this news completly the wrong way, I can confirm that, no, Kevin Feige will most certainly not be replacing Kathleen Kennedy as president of Lucasfilm. Per THR:

"A top Disney source says Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy remains in charge with no plans for any changes."

Unfortunately that's all we have at the moment, but be sure to keep it here at the SWU for further updates on this project and many others in the Star Wars universe!
