Star Wars Celebration Chicago is off to the races. Now that the trailer for Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker is out, the announcements have been coming fast and furious. On the collectables front, Lucasfilm unveiled the official packaging for the toys and other merchandise associated with The Rise of Skywalker. The packaging definitely evokes that which was used for The Force Awakens, featuring Kylo Ren (now with his repaired helmet). Check it out below,
For fans at Celebration, a photo-op with the Toy Packaging has been set up on the show floor, near the Vader: Immortal booth. There you can take beautiful photos, like this one,
Also revealed during the convention, were some upcoming action figures and toys from Hasbro. The toy manufacturer held a panel yesterday, where they made some fun reveals like a 6" black series figure of the man of the convention,
Also revealed were three Galaxy's Edge multipacks, one with Rey, Hondo Ohnaka, Chewbacca, and some Porgs, one with Kylo Ren, Commander Pyre (from Star Wars Resistance), a mouse droid and a new Mountain Trooper, and one with C-3PO, R2-D2, BB-8, and former Star Tours pilot turned disc-jockey R-3X (aka Rex).
They also unveiled their San Diego Comic Con exclusives, 6 inch scale figures that call back to Star Wars toy making history. The two figures are rocket-firing Boba Fett (which never made it past prototypes in the 1970s due to concerns over the projectiles), and a retro prototype Darth Vader. You can see the new Vader below,
They also apparently revealed a new prototype lightsaber (that won't be for sale anytime soon), that actually featured a beam of light. No pictures were aloud, but the buzz coming from the panel was nothing but positive.
