The Kazuda Kast | "No Escape (Part 2)"

On this episode, Dominic, Chris, and (eventually) Ben are joined by Hawes Burkhardt of the Blue Harvest Podcast to discuss the Star Wars Resistance season one finale "No Escape (Part 2)". They delve into Tam's decision to leave with The First Order, and what implications it may have for next season.  They also look at how this episode brings together many elements from season one of Resistance and sets the season for season two.  Plus, the battle in the skies, revisiting the Starkiller Base attack, and biggest takeaways from the first season.  All this and much more!

It had to take place during TFA so that the Resistance proper could not help. The series has been above all else about bittersweet and hard fought Pyrrhic victories. Honestly I think yinz almost undersell how dark this show can get. Mostly cause Kaz never actually jokes again in the ep. He has funny lines and reactions and is happy at points, but like we see in the final scene, there is this underling fatigue and focus.

As for Tam and the FO, they will lose so much good will from me if they continue that brainwashing thing. I loathed that as it just makes the FO less and less interesting as we hammer in that like 90% of them are pretty much droids, or brainwashed from birth. Thus any attempt at Nazi allegory and importantly neo-nazi white nationalist allegory is then lost. Like even Hitler youths had families, and Confederate alt-right people are not brainwashed into being fascists. I think what has made Tam work so well is the doubling down, using the FO as a way to get back at people for other slights and betrayals unrelated, and an inherent defensiveness of her own privilege. I want her to legit be the new Vonreg, which btw amazing idea Hawes, 100% cause she made this bad decision and continues to do so. Cause a young person joining a group like this to fit in and cause they reassure their worst moral leanings is uncomfortably real and the show has done a great job with it. Tam is why I say this show is darker than TCW and more mature politically than any other live action or animated SW thing thus far
