ILMxLAB Releases New 'Vader Immortal' Teaser

2019 promises to be an exciting year for Star Wars fans, with lots of cool new projects being released over the next twelve months.  One of those is Vader Immortal, a new virtual reality experience that was developed by the team over at ILMxLAB and will be released this year with the new Oculus Quest headset.  To celebrate the new year, the ILMxLAB team has released a new teaser for Vader Immortal.  It's only fifteen seconds long and doesn't offer any new footage from the game, but it may contain a clue to story of Vader Immortal.  Check it out below,

The title card that says, "New Opportunity... To Cheat Death", is clearly a call back to Darth Sidious' line in Revenge of the Sith. And, of course, the power to save the ones he loved from dying was a huge motivator for Anakin Skywalker's fall to the dark side and ultimate transformation into Darth Vader in the prequel trilogy.  What this means for Vader Immortal is unclear, but it seems safe to say that Vader's interest in resurrecting the death (or keeping people alive) didn't die with his Padme.

Readers of the recently conclude Darth Vader comic book series will remember that the opportunity to see Padme again can be a major motivator for Vader (see issue #22). Does this mean the comic and the game will tie-in together? Not necessarily, but they are both set in Vader's castle on Mustafar (first seen in Rogue One) so there's a chance they may be connected. Then again, it may just be a coincidence.  We'll find out together, for the price of $399 USD (cost of an Oculus Quest at launch), in Spring of this year.
