Lucasfilm has released the first six episodes of Star Wars Galaxy of Adventures, the new animated microseries. The series debuted today on the new Star Wars Kids YouTube Channel.  The series retells classic moments from the Star Wars saga in short snippets, perfect for older fans wanting to introduce their younglings to the series--especially those with kids that aren't ready for the live action series yet.  The batch of episodes features two shorts about Luke Skywalker, two about Darth Vader, and one each about R2-D2 and Chewbacca.  You can check them out for yourself below,

In addition, three companion episodes (titled "Galaxy of Adventure Fun Facts") were released which tell more of the story the films.  The episodes focus Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, and the starfighters of the galaxy.  Check them out below,

Josh Rimes, producer of Galaxy of Adventures and director of animation and live action series development at Lucasfilm, spoke with StarWars.com about the shorts.  He described the goal of the series, saying,

"We were looking for ways to invite young kids into the saga through exciting and vibrant bursts of animation that didn’t talk down to them. Hopefully the shorts will leave young viewers newer to Star Wars wanting to discover more about the saga — from Luke Skywalker and his journey to becoming a Jedi, to Darth Vader and his power of the dark side, to Leia and her path from princess to rebel leader. They’re fun, stylish stories that thrust the viewer into the big events of Star Wars, while also exploring its greater themes."

Rimes also shared the thought process behind each episode, which you can read over at StarWars.com.

More Galaxy of Adventure shorts will be debuting next month, as well as throughout the new year.  In addition, toys based on the series are now available at Wal Mart.
