Jon Favreau Says His 'Star Wars' Series Is Set Seven Years After 'A New Hope'

UPDATE:  An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that the series was set seven years after Return of the Jedi.  Dan Cassey, who spoke with Favreau and first reported on the series being set seven years following Endor, released the full video of his interview with Favreau and clarified that the series was in fact set seven years after A New Hope (so 3-4 years after Jedi).   The original story has been updated to include this information.

ORIGINAL STORY:
Last night all eyes were on the world premiere of Solo: A Star Wars Story taking place in Hollywood, with loads of Star Wars stars past and present on hand to celebrate the next installment in the saga.  One of those who was on hand was Jon Favreau.  Favreau's reason for being there was two-fold, one to promote his role in the new film (he lends his voice to the alien Rio Durante), and two, to share the first details about the Star Wars live action series he's currently developing for the upcoming Disney streaming service.

Favreau spoke about the series with Nerdist senior editor Dan Cassey, who took to Twitter to share what he learned.  According to Cassey, Favreau told him that the series would be set seven years following the events of A New Hope, thus placing it in the post-Return of the Jedi timeline, and that it will focus on new characters, and utilize some brand new technology (along the lines of what Favreau used on his 2016 live action remake of The Jungle Book).

Cassey tweeted,
He also spoke about the series briefly during the StarWars.com live stream with The Star Wars Show host Anthony Carboni, revealing that half the scripts for the first season had been written.  You can see Favreau talk about the series below,

Favreau was announced as the writer and executive producer for this new Star Wars live action series back in early March.  No release date has been set, although the Disney streaming service is slated to launch in 2019.  These were the first details about the story and setting of the series that have been revealed.
